KBBA9 Photophone Workshop Hosted By Sony Mobile Malaysia!

Writing is only one of the many components that makes up a blogger or social media influencer. People these days are easily influenced by things they see rather than things they read, hence having the ability to capture stunning photo's and content is a must.
But honestly though,  how many of us actually have the the financial capability to acquire high end camera's like DSLR's and Mirror-less cameras? Ranging anywhere from a couple of thousand up to tens of thousands respectively.

We all resort to what is easiest to carry and the most handy, as and when the need arises. Right?
What am I referring to?

The trusty Mobile Phone of course! With the technological advancements we have today, a Smartphone camera is more than sufficient to capture images on the go as well has having the ability to reach your audience quicker than having to transfer, sort, edit and upload these files to social media if you were using a conventional camera.

No doubt, having a DSLR or Mirrorless camera allows you the flexibility to shoot sharper and more vivid images. Is this truly necessary? Well, YES! If photography is your day job.

Obviously we all love to snap photo's of anything and everything that tickles or fancy. Often we harp on the fact that the images we capture aren't up to par with those taken from conventional camera's. That's exactly what I did too...

On the 10th of February, Sony Mobile Malaysia was kind enough to have a photophone workshop for us (KBBA9) at MaTiC (Malaysian Tourism Centre. The workshop was held to help us better understand the fundamental basics of photgraphy. Understanding the use of things like Aperture, Shutter Speed, Metering and ISO.
By being able to understand and implement this knowledge when photographing, we were not only able to capture better images but it also reduced the amount of time spent selecting or recapturing an image. A lot is also saved because you dont need to do much editing to get the perfect picture.

The class was conducted by Mr. Rahman Roslan who is an award winning Documentary Photographer. Though being an expert in his field, his explanations were pretty simple and easy to grasp. Almost everything was explained using normal day to day terminology instead of jargons.

To be honest, this was my first time attending such a workshop.
Boy what an amazing experience it was. It's when you attend workshops like these that you realize that there are actually things that you have been doing all along, you just never knew why or how it affects you engagement.

The rule of thirds or the simple use of lines for instance can create a whole lot of difference. As explained by Mr. Rahman, the human eye is somehow trained to respond and focus to such things. It automatically attracts the human eye to your subject. A rather interesting fact if you ask me.

These are just some of the shot that I was able to get shortly after the first session of the workshop.
I myself find it hard to believe that these photos were actually taken from my mobile phone camera. Do you?

Thanks to Sony Malaysia and Mr. Rahman, the attendees and myself are now empowered to create great looking content while on the go. Today, almost 2 weeks after the workshop, i'm still working hard at perfecting the art of mobile photography. I'll let you be the judge of that ya?

All in all the workshop was such an enjoyable experience, the knowledge poured out to us was overwhelming to say the least! I am extremely happy that I was given the opportunity to better my skill for the good of my self development as well as the future of the content I create!

A HUGE THANK YOU to all the the sponsors that pitched in to make the workshop a success!
